A Blank Canvas Has No Value… Only Potential

The new year is here.

Our feeds are filled with posts like, “Finally, the worst year of my life is over. So ready for 2021.”

The new year is an inspiring time to open our eyes to the unlimited potential of a blank slate.. it’s a yearly reminder that we can start fresh and just maybe do the thing we wanted to do last year that we didn’t get around to.

But the idea that the number on the calendar quietly changed from 2020 to 2021 isnt’ actually going to change anything in our lives.

It’s just like an artist getting a new canvas, hanging it on the wall, and admiring how great the potential is for the work they COULD create while they imagine how beautiful it is in their mind.

The potential of a blank canvas is infinite.

The value of a blank canvas is zero.

It doesn’t mean it’s worthless.

It just means the artist must bring their idea to life by putting the paint on the canvas in order to make it something people will be able to appreciate and enjoy.

Celebrating the new year claiming everything’s going to be better this year without taking the actions and steps to bring your ideas and dreams into life is like hanging a blank canvas on the wall and wondering why no one is praising how good of an artist you could be if you actually created something with it.

We can start today with a small action to make our dreams reality.

The new year is a great time to start.

And every other day of the year is just as good.

It’s not one decision on January 1st.

It’s a daily decision to add a little more color to the canvas every single day.
